iPhone 5s back housing battery door case repair guide
Accidents happen. Sometimes your iPhone 5s back housing get cracked. How to replace the scracked rear case is the hungry business to do. Now iPhone 5s rear housing battery door replacement guide show you the ways to recover your “healthy” and “nice” iPhone 5s.
First, we should prepare for the repair tools for iPhone 5s repair.
0.8 Pentalobe Screwdriver
iSclack Opening Tool
Suction cup opening tool
Plastic pry opeing tool
A tip end of a spudger
A flat end of a spudger
Step 1. Make sure you have powered off your iPhone 5s before beginning disassembly, and take out the SIM card with an Eject pin.
Step 2. Remove the two screws at the iPhone 5s buttom end.(Use the 0.8 Pentalobe Screwdriver)
Step 3. Use the iSclack opening tool to open the lcd screen assembly.
Pre: iSclack is a great tool for safely opening the iPhone 5s that we recommend for anyone doing more than one repair.
Hold onto your iPhone securely and close the handle of the iSclack to separate the suction cups, pulling the front panel up from the rear case.
It is enough to separate the pieces, but not enough to damage the home button cable.
If you don’t use the iSclack tool, the suction cup opening tool can also open the screen assemly.
But you should be with carefullness 100%. We can’t make it with a beat, because there is the home button flex cable connecting the screen and tail plug. To avoid to cause accidental damage to the cable, we should be priority to keep the distance in 2-3cm while opening screen. After releasing the home lcd assembly cable, we can open the screen totally.
Step 4. Use the plastic prying opening tool to seperate the home button end of the front panel from the rear case.
We know there are several ribbon cables connecting it to the rest of the phone. So you should go slowly and carefully to avoid damage.
Then, take off the iSclack tool or suction cup opening tool.
Notice: Do not try to completely remove the front panel assembly from the rear case, as there are several ribbon cables still attached at the top of the iPhone.
Step 5. Open the phone just enough to reveal the metal bracket covering the home button cable. And use the tip of a spudger to push the bracket free and remove it with tweezers.
Note: Do not open the phone too far or you risk damaging the home button cable, or the socket it plugs into. Keep the cable loose. If it is stretched taut, that's too far.
Step 6. Use the tip of a spudger to pry the home button cable connector up out of its socket carefully.
Note: Be sure you're separating the cable connector from its socket, and not prying the entire socket up. The socket is on its own glued-down cable that can be pried up if you aren't careful.
During the next few steps, until you remove the front panel assembly, keep it supported at a 90º angle in relation to the rear case.
Step 7. Remove the following screws and the front panel assembly cable bracket on the logic board.
Use the 1.2 Philips screwdriver to remove these screws.
Step 8.Use the flat end of a spudger to remove all the cables connecting to the lcd screen digitizer assembly.
Step 9. Remove the front panel assembly from the rear case.
Step 10. Use the 1.0 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws on the logic board.(show in the following picture)
Step 11. Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pry these cables connecting up from their socket on the logic board, and remove them.

Step 12. Remove any tape covering the camera flash bracket.
Step 13. Remove the rear-facing camera from the rear case.
Step 14. Remove the following screws from the logic board.(shown in the following picture)
Step 15. Use a plastic opening tool to lift the logic board up enough to grab with your fingers, then remove the logic board from the rear housing.
Note: Please make sure all the cables connecting up from their socket on the logic board disconnect the logic board, avoiding to damages of these connectors.
Step 16. We can remove the battery, here it is better to use a plastic pry opening tool to gently pry the battery out from the back cover.
Note: There is adhesive holding the battery steadly on the back housing, so it is better to use some special tools to help remove the battery, such as heating tool to heat the back cover properly or knife sticker.
Step 17. Remove the remaining screws on the rear case.
Step 18. Pull the charging dock Lightning connector assembly (speaker cable, headphone jack, microphone included) out from the rear case.
Step 19. Remove the 2.1 mm Phillips screw securing the contact clip and power/sleep button bracket.
Step 20. Use the tweezer to pull the vibrator bracket and vibrator from back housing.
Step 21. Pull out the Power on/off and volume buttons flex cable from the rear case.
Step 22. Remove the Wifi antenna flex cable from the rear case
Then,you get the rear housing case with side buttons and volume switch of iPhone 5s. So the teardown job is finished here. Then you use the new back housing replacement to replace the old and cracked one, follow the teardown guide in return to reinstall all the parts rightly.
Note: We'd better prepare for some double faced adhesive tape, in case fix the parts. And you maybe prepare a new battery adhesive sticker to fix the battery on the back housing.
It looks not an easy job, so you should pay more attentions and patience during these processes.
