0.8 Pentalobe Screwdriver
iSclack Opening Tool
Suction cup opening tool
Plastic pry opeing tool
A tip end of a spudger
1.2 Philips Screwdriver
Step 1. Make sure you have powered off your iPhone 5s before beginning disassembly.
Step 2. Remove the two screws at the iPhone 5s buttom end.(Use the 0.8 Pentalobe Screwdriver)
Step 3. Use the iSclack opening tool to open the lcd screen assembly.
Pre: iSclack is a great tool for safely opening the iPhone 5s that we recommend for anyone doing more than one repair.
Hold onto your iPhone securely and close the handle of the iSclack to separate the suction cups, pulling the front panel up from the rear case.
It is enough to separate the pieces, but not enough to damage the home button cable.
If you don’t use the iSclack tool, the suction cup opening tool can also open the screen assemly.
But you should be with carefullness 100%. We can’t make it with a beat, because there is the home button flex cable connecting the screen and tail plug. To avoid to cause accidental damage to the cable, we should be priority to keep the distance in 2-3cm while opening screen. After releasing the home lcd assembly cable, we can open the screen totally.
Step 4. Use the plastic prying opening tool to seperate the home button end of the front panel from the rear case.
We know there are several ribbon cables connecting it to the rest of the phone. So you should go slowly and carefully to avoid damage.
Then, take off the iSclack tool or suction cup opening tool.
Notice: Do not try to completely remove the front panel assembly from the rear case, as there are several ribbon cables still attached at the top of the iPhone.
Step 5. Open the phone just enough to reveal the metal bracket covering the home button cable. And use the tip of a spudger to push the bracket free and remove it with tweezers.
Note: Do not open the phone too far or you risk damaging the home button cable, or the socket it plugs into. Keep the cable loose. If it is stretched taut, that's too far.
Step 6. Use the tip of a spudger to pry the home button cable connector up out of its socket carefully.
Note: Be sure you're separating the cable connector from its socket, and not prying the entire socket up. The socket is on its own glued-down cable that can be pried up if you aren't careful.
During the next few steps, until you remove the front panel assembly, keep it supported at a 90º angle in relation to the rear case.
Step 7. Remove the following screws and the front panel assembly cable bracket on the logic board.
Use the 1.2 Philips screwdriver to remove these screws.
Step 8.Use the flat end of a spudger to remove all the cables connecting to the lcd screen digitizer assembly.
Step 9. Remove the front panel assembly from the rear case.
Step 10.Use a flat end of tweezer or metal spudger to gently pry the earpiece speaker contact cable up, and separate the portion of the camera and sensor cable from the adhesive below.
Note: we can only pry directly under the earpiece speaker contacts, because there are sensors and microchips that can be damaged by prying elsewhere.
Step 11.Lift the ambient light sensor out of its recess in the display assembly with a point of spudger.
Step 12. Gently peel the front-facing camera portion of the cable away from the display assembly with the flat end of a spudger.
Step 13. Peel gently the cable assembly off of the LCD shield plate to remove it from the display.
Step 14. Remove any plastic coverings from the microphone on the sensor cable assembly.
Note: this plastic coverings is made for making the connecting point stead, if you miss it, it also doesn’t matter, don’t worry.
Step 15. Remove the strips on the front camera and sensor cable.
Step 16. Use a set of tweezers to fold the microphone portion of the cable, and separate the front camera flex cable from the light sensor cable.
Finally, you get the broken front camera donw, and use a new one(shown in the picture from discription) to replace. Following in return the teardown processes, you can reinstall the front camera and light sensor cable.
Note: when you reinstall the front camera cable and light sensor, you should notice the microphone portion of the cable that the gold portion is inside the cable, and the silver unit is on top.
